When do we enroll for the next school year?
Registration for current families who are re-enrolling is protected in the month of January. Open Enrollment is available to new families beginning February 1st. New families are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible to ensure placement for the Fall semester.
How can we learn more about Westlake?
Visit us on a Preview Day (check the web for dates) or schedule a tour by calling 281-341-9910 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. We can also set up a Shadow Day for your child to spend some time in the classroom getting to know the teacher and classmates.
When does the school day start and end?
The student’s day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m. The PreK3 and PreK4 classes dismiss early at 3:00pm.
Are there provisions for before or after school care?
Yes, we offer before school care as early as 6:30 a.m. and after school care as late as 6:00 p.m. Students who have homework are encouraged to finish their homework in after school care before they begin playing. The school tallies the hours of usage and bills you accordingly at $6.50/hour.
What is the dress code?
Westlake requires all students to wear uniforms from Flynn O'Hara Uniforms and closed-toed shoes. We do have spirit day on Fridays where the kids can where blue jeans and spirit shirts, if they want.
Does the school have a lunch program?
Westlake does offer a hot lunch program. We offer kid-friendly meals that have been prepared by a local catering company. There are a variety of meals for students to purchase.
How does the school communicate with parents?
Teachers send out weekly newsletters for parents with information about the upcoming week’s activities. The Head of the School and Parent Teacher League (PTL) also post monthly newsletters. All of this information can be found on RenWeb, an online portal that parents and faculty use to disseminate and receive information. Each new parent will set up a log-in and password to use RenWeb. Each quarter, student report cards are also viewed through this system.
Are the teachers certified? What curriculum does Westlake use?
Westlake teachers are certified by the State of Texas. They all have undergraduate degrees (mostly in Education), and most hold Master’s Degrees. Westlake selects textbooks that are approved by the Texas Board of Education and supplements with enriched programs. In addition to separate Religion and Theology classes, Westlake teaches all subjects from a Christian perspective.
Is there financing available for tuition?
Yes, the Lutheran Education Association of Houston offers financial aid on the basis of need. You can apply on-line through our website, and many families qualify for some level of financial aid. Click here to begin the financial aid application.
